20 [====== SCENE TWENTY ======] 20 INT MARCY'S TRAILER (NIGHT) Marcy has changed out of her "Tori Spelling" outfit. She is now wearing blue jeans and a white Grosse Pointe logo tanktop. She is preparing to leave when there is a knock at her trailer door. Marcy answers it. MARCY Hi, Dave. Why are you doing dressed like that? Dave is dressed as Count Dracula, with pale make-up on his face and a set of plastic fangs in his mouth. DAVE Oh, this? I was going to sneak into the dance, but the Bouncer caught me and threw me off the set. MARCY You missed quite a dance! It was a lot of fun. I should say, it was fun for Hunter. Come on in, Dave. He enters. He is holding a box behind his back. DAVE Hey, listen. I got you a little something, you know, for Valentine's Day. It isn't much, but I hope you like it. MARCY For me? She takes the box and opens it. Inside is a small statue. It is a plastic replica of an Emmy award about five inches tall. MARCY What--? What is this for? DAVE Um, think of it as an incentive. One day, you will win a REAL Emmy. Until then, this is to inspire you to be the best actress you can be. MARCY (smiling warmly) Thank you, really. It was a sweet gesture, Dave, and I appreciate it. They hug. When Dave releases his hug, Marcy hugs him tighter. Dave hesitates a moment, then hugs her back, tighter. After they both release the hug, Dave looks into Marcy's eyes. It is obvious he wants to kiss her, but Marcy looks away just before Dave is about to move in for a kiss. MARCY Here is the perfect spot for the statue, don't you think? She turns away from Dave without realizing he was going to kiss her and puts the statue down on the small shelf that is to the left of the trailer door. With the moment now gone, Dave decides to go. DAVE Yeah, well. I should go now. I hope you had a good time at the dance. Dave starts to leave, disappointed in himself again that he did not find enough courage to ask her out. Marcy is almost too preoccupied staring at the statue to notice that Dave is almost out the door. MARCY Dave, I-- (notices Dave is leaving) Thank you again for the statue. It'll be a real inspiration. Dave nods and leaves. MARCY (to herself) Yeah, kissing Josh tonight was great. But someday, I'll find true happiness, even if it isn't with Johnny...and what do I do about Dave? She goes to the window and watches Dave return to Johnny's trailer. The music level goes up as we see Marcy walk over to the picture of Johnny she has on the wall. She takes down the picture of Johnny and shrugs as she puts the picture in a drawer. MARCY (continuing) Goodbye, Johnny. I guess I'm finally over you. Now if only Dave would ask me out... The music picks up again and Marcy leaves her trailer as we... *** [=== GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR THE CONCLUSION ===] *** FADE OUT. ****** END OF ACT TWO ****** |
